Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the views of the Alexandrian intellectual Didymus the Blind in their relationship with the teachings of Origen of Alexandria. The stated problem is investigated in connection with the study of the intellectual tradition of Alexandria of the III–VII centuries AD. The author concludes that Didymus, being in line with the classical intellectualism of the Alexandrian school of theology, tried to adapt Origen's teachings close to him in spirit (especially in terms of his views on human virtue) to Christian morality. It is emphasized that such intellectual experience distinguished not only Didymus, but practically all major Christian intellectuals of the III–IV centuries AD, whose educational paradigm had to adapt the previous pagan potential to the new Christian practice.
