Educational Patterns in Children's Literature of the 18th Century as an Educational Discourse for Noble Offspring

Abstract

The article is devoted to the peculiarities of young nobles in the 18th century, where children's literature played an important role in the formation of the correct behavioral pattern. Actually, this was an innovation in the pedagogical discourse of the noble class. A special place was occupied by the moral story, often based on a fable, which was the most popular form of children's works. With the help of simple plots, young people were shown the right and wrong decisions made by heroes, mostly children. The development of moral qualities was a central theme in these works. Through the simple storylines, the important topic of relationships with parents, other adults and peers was raised. Children's literature in the 18th century was a widespread and very effective element of education, instilling those moral qualities that were cultivated among the nobility. But its preservation was insufficient; many works are lost to researchers.
