О присутствии «бессмертных» в персидской армии времен Дария III

В статье рассматривается проблема достоверности информации о наличии в составе армии Дария III элитного корпуса «бессмертных». Определяется, что единственное прямое указание на присутствие указанного подразделения в персидском войске времен македонских завоеваний оставил Курций Руф, чье свидетельство имеет явные признаки опоры на труд Геродота. Сравнительный анализ данных античной письменной традиции показывает, что представленные в историографии выводы о тождественности «бессмертных» и отряда «носителей яблока», действительно выполнявших функции царской стражи в эпоху поздних Ахеменидов, малообоснованны. Не подтверждаемое иными источниками сообщение Курция Руфа оценивается как не имеющее отношения к персидским военным реалиям эпохи Дария III и возникшее в результате литературного заимствования.
