К истории изучения афинского неоплатонизма в современной историографии

В истории позднеантичной мысли и интеллектуальной традиции особое место занимают Афины как интеллектуальная и образовательная метрополия. Афинские высшие школы и интеллектуалы стали главным оплотом позднеантичной традиции, в том числе с использованием языческих религиозных практик в ямвлиховской версии неоплатонизма. Это сделало Афины оплотом язычества до конца 1-й трети VI века. В современной зарубежной историографии (с 1990-х гг.) наблюдается пристальный интерес к позднеантичным интеллектуалам, в частности к афинским. За последнюю четверть века вышли несколько монографий и ряд аналитических статей. В целом большинство ученых ныне признает важную роль афинских философов ранневизантийского времени в процессе культурного континуитета. С другой стороны, афинский ямвлиховский неоплатонизм ко 2-й пол. VI в. сошел с исторической сцены, уступив место более компромиссному александрийскому.
