О периодизации Юстиниановой чумы

В статье дается первая в отечественной историографии попытка периодизации Юстиниановой чумы. За основу взята концепция исследователей Г. Хезера и М.В. Супотницкого о 7–20 летних циклах пандемии, основанная на кратком рассказе Евагрия Схоластика из IV книги «Церковной истории». В результате предложено разделение пандемии на 11 циклов, охватывающих временные рамки с 541 по 750 гг. Каждый новый цикл пандемии во взаимосвязи с другими потрясениями того времени создает общую картину хаоса и разрушения в эпоху «Темных веков». Разделение «классической Юстиниановой чумы» и периода «долгой чумы» представляется важным нарративом в истории византийской литературы.
