Political progress: historical and modern features, possibilities of using the mathematical description

The concept of progress in world science is debatable. The purpose of this article is to identify the properties of political progress typical for the unstable transition periods of the information age, as well as to check the possibility of using mathematical methods for describing this process. The author uses historical, comparative and systematic approaches and gives an overview of the main provisions of the classical and modern ideas of progress. He highlights the features of political progress, such as the connection between politics and progress through the ascending line of history; preservation of the direction of progress in certain states through the revolution; emergence of new institutions that solve the problems of the relationship between the individual and society. J. Condorcet laid the foundations for the mathematical description of progressive changes in a stable state. Modern research allows the possibility of modeling and forecasting progressive processes. The author discusses doubts about the idea of political progress in general.
