The article studies the meetings of Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms Elizabeth II and other members of the British royal family with the representatives of the Soviet Union and its successor state the Russian Federation, beginning with the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953 up to the end of the 20th century. The author researches the official receptions of Soviet and later Russian political leaders by the Queen and the visits of members of the British royal family to the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation. The author analyses the factors of the increase and decrease in the contacts in question, the influence of the high-level political meetings on the state of the political dialogue between the two countries, as well as the impact of these contacts on the development of bilateral relations in other spheres of cooperation. Furthermore, the author looks into the influence of British ruling authorities on the decisions of the Queen regarding her visit to the USSR.
